People are so caught up in fairytales many forget that it is not foolproof. Johansson was just 23 years old when she married Ryan Reynolds, and they had an age difference of eight years.
That is common, but Scarlett was way too young for a guy like Reynolds looking for someone to settle with and start a family.
Scarlett and Ryan dated only a year and decided to marry real soon. Scarlett was not hesitant because, well, who makes good decisions in their 20’s.

In the year 2010, Iron Man 2 was released, in which Scarlett was introduced as Black Widow. So, this might have been another breaking point.

Many reports have circulated that Ryan Reynolds cheated on Scarlett with Blake Lively, with whom he did Green Lantern.
There have been several occasions where they both were spotted having dinner during the film promotion and showed a lot of signs of dating.
Ryan Reynolds did end up with her and is now married and has three beautiful children with her. Scarlett, on the other hand too is married and has everything she worked for.
To put it simply, Scarlett wanted a career at the age of 23, and Reynolds wanted a family at the age of 31. Both got everything they wanted but not with each other.
