Who Is Rience In The Witcher Season Two?

The Witcher fans are ready for the second season of the show and as they are about to get a lot of info in the coming weeks, knowing beforehand about Rience is a must.

When will the second season release?

The second season of The Witcher is said to release by the last quarter of this year and the dates will be released the next week in Netflix’s Geeked Week.

The filming is over and the second season is deep under production according to Lauren Hissrich. And an announcement from Netflix by the end of the shoot has confirmed many main characters fans predicted will be appearing.

One of the main characters will Rience, the one who will be involved in a massive and legendary fight with Geralt in the set built for Oxenfurt.

Who Is Rience In The Witcher?

Rience will be introduced to the WItcher Univers through the show for the first time in the second season. His character has a long-running spar with Geralt often and all of it is about to start in the show.

Many thought that since his fight is mainly said to be with Geralt, he is after him. But that’s not the case, Rience is a powerful mage who is sent by another main villain of The Witcher, Vilgefortz.

Rience is after Geralt now because he is the one standing on his way to capture Ciri. So, the Nilfgaardians are not the only ones after Ciri?

Yeah, you are right. Vilgefortz has asked Rience to track down Ciri and bring her to him, and Rience has been on this job ever since Cintra fell at the beginning of the show.

Why is Rience after Ciri?

 

Well, thanks to our ever-singing bard, Rience may have captured Ciri at times. Because Rience finds out that Ciri is under the Witcher’s care only through Jaskier‘s song.

This is a funny story, not so funny to Geralt though. Jaskier comes up with a song about the lion cub of Cintra under the Witcher’s care, which kinda negates the whole ‘she is trying to run away’ notion.

And we know that there is no shutting up Jaskier. But believe us when we say there is another fight coming up for Jaskier and Geralt.

Anyway, Rience kidnaps the bard and is tortures him for information since he hears this song. And before he could tell anything, Yennefer jumps in and gives Rience a scar that he will never forget in his lifetime and saves Jaskier.

It should be fun seeing Jaskier be grateful to Yennefer.

Does Rience have a personal vendetta against Ciri?

Rience was sent out of the academy after two years when he got caught for petty theft. He was then recruited by Kaedwen secret service and was trained to become an assassin.

Queen Calanthe Grandmother of Ciri, imprisoned him for not paying his debts. But he later found out that someone had paid it for him and was released. So his him getting Ciri is both personal and professional.

He goes MIA for a while and surfaces with a lot of cash, and ends up hella powerful.

Oxenfurt Fight

Let’s no spoil it completely for you. Both Geralt and Rience think they are setting a trap for each other and do some stupid things during the Oxenfurt fight.

Geralt succeeds in outwitting Rience but wasn’t enough time to capture him as Philippa Eilhart does something that Geralt won’t forgive her for.

Now, we have confirmed news that Phillippa will also appear the thing we are unsure is how big a role she will have.
