What Does “Franklin D Roosevelt High School” On Mobius’ Pen Mean?

We learn in the second episode of Loki that Mobius has never met the Time-Keepers, so he’s spent his life doing the bidding of unseen beings. It seems likely they aren’t what he thinks they are, and that he’ll end up joining the Lokis in rebelling against them.

The pen Mobius uses to sign the paperwork in Ravonna Renslayer’s office says “Franklin D Roosevelt High School,” but it was unclear what this means until the last episode. The other trophies he mentions are a roller skate and a snow globe.

What Does The Words On Mobius' Pen Mean?
A clear shot of Mobius’ pen

Franklin Delano Roosevelt (January 30, 1882 – April 12, 1945), often referred to by his initials FDR, was the thirty-second President of the United States. Elected to four terms in office, he served from 1933 to 1945 and was the only U.S. president to have served more than two terms.

The Hidden Easter Egg

Marvel is its special way to drop easter egg in all it’s movies and TV shows. The latest one is the “Franklin Delano Roosevelt” Pen. Though the scene in Loki episode 2 was not more than 10 seconds long, fans have come up with various theories as to what it may mean. It is only in Episode 6, that we come to know the real significance of the pen.

Marvel usually drops such easter eggs to create a side plot or to connect various parts of the vast and ever-expanding Marvel Cinematic Universe. The ‘Pen’ is seen in the episode when Mobius(Owen Wilson) visits Renslayer’s office for her signature on a TVA field report. The report shows the full name of Mobius as Mobius M. Mobius. The report had the details of the operation which Loki was a part of earlier.

The internet had some super wild theories about the pen before episode 6 was released some of which are written below.

One of the theories claimed that the Pen could also be the one that Roosevelt used to sign the Atlantic charter. The Atlantic Charter was a statement signed by FRD on 14 August 1941. The charter solidified the American and British goals for the world after the end of World War II.

The pen could mean that TVA has been at some point traveled back in time, and changed the events of World Wars when Roosevelt was the president. It’s just speculation but that Marvel has bought Frank Roosevelts’ name a few times now, could have a deep-rooted meaning.

Pens on Renslayer’s desk

In Loki Episode 6, the season finale we learn that the pen had the words “Franklin D Roosevelt High School” on it because Ravonna Renslayer used to work in Franklin D Roosevelt High School before she was bought to TVA. We see there were a bunch of pens on her desk with the schools’ name printed on them. The pen was a link between Ravonna who works at the TVA and Ravonna before she was taken to TVA.

Renslayer before she was taken to TVA

The TVA is similar to the bureaucratic system that existed during the time FRD was the president, the pen fit’s well in the Renslayer’s office. Though there is no official story behind where the pen came from, the scene where Ravonna gives the pen to Mobius comes with a pretext that the pen is one of Ravonna’s artifacts from one of her missions.

The fact that the pen has “Franklin D Roosevelt High School” engraved on it and is still in Renslayer’s office could mean some deep significance about the upcoming episodes. We went through all the 23 movies released by Marvel and found that “Franklin D Roosevelt” has been used quite quite a number of times, for instances here-

Creating the SSR

“A few years later, he forms the SSR.”
“Which becomes S.H.I.E.L.D.”
