Upcoming Marvel Movies: Dates revealed for Phase 4 by Disney

Phase 4 Release date

Phase 3 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe comes to an end with Spider-Man: Far From Home, which introduces the concept of multiverses to the MCU. And after that movie hits theaters on July 2, Disney will more than likely reveal the titles of the next line of Marvel movies.

Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige is keeping a tight lid on the future of the MCU.

It might be possible to figure out what’s next for the Marvel Cinematic Universe after Far From Home comes out–or at least theorize a bit. Keep in mind, we’re not discussing any of the X-Men movies or Spider-Man spinoffs–like Venom–as they are not a part of the MCU.

Recently, Disney announced the next several years of movie premiere dates — which include another Star Wars trilogy, Avatar sequels, a new Indiana Jones film, Pixar movies, live-action Disney remakes.

Take a look at Marvel’s calendar for 2020 and beyond. There are a lot of theatrical dates with nothing attached to them:

  1. May 1, 2020
  2. Nov. 6, 2020
  3. Feb. 12, 2021
  4. May 7, 2021
  5. Nov. 5, 2021
  6. Feb 18, 2022
  7. May 6, 2022
  8.  July 29, 2020

Eternal

Like we said above, any of these other dates could shift around. This could be where Guardians 3 ends up, or Doctor Strange 2, or Shang-Chi…or anything. And then we haven’t even yet discussed the inevitable Captain Marvel 2, which could very well land here, as well. Unless, of course, Marvel decides to surprise us all with a Fantastic Four or X-Men movie.

Doctor Strange

Note that the Disney announcement says “untitled Marvel movies,” not “MCU.” For all we know, one of these could be a non-MCU release (like another Deadpool sequel). Nor does it factor in Sony’s sometimes-MCU-canon Spider-Man films. But at this point, it’s safe to assume most, if not all, will ultimately tie in and build up to the next all-hero team-up event.
