This WandaVision Theory Completely Changes Loki Finale

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is going to places fans have never seen before, particularly thanks to original series like “WandaVision” and “Loki.” Viewers have known for a long time that Marvel is introducing the multiverse in Phase 4; the name of the next “Doctor Strange” movie is literally “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.”

The most recent MCU show, “Loki,” dove deep into how time and the very fabric of reality are manipulated within the larger universe. Its titular character was introduced to the Time Variance Authority, a secret agency dedicated to preserving individual timelines. Later, he discovers it is the work of He Who Remains, who has destroyed countless other timelines in hopes of preserving one Sacred Timeline.

By the end of the series, the multiverse has been torn open, setting the stage for the next big MCU crisis — but those might not be the only multiversal hijinks brewing on Disney+.

One fan theory posted by YouTube user The Marvelous Wave posits that “WandaVision” and the Scarlet Witch actually played a huge role in that “Loki” finale behind the scenes.

Some fans think He Who Remains sensed the birth of Scarlet Witch

In the “Loki” finale, Loki and his fellow variant, Sylvie, met He Who Remains in his Citadel at the End of Time. There, he explained how he keeps tabs on the final reality of the Multiverse. The three of them look at the timeline like a map and see exactly how events are transpiring. Then, He Who Remains drifts off as a rumble of thunder occurs, which visibly concerns him. He declares they’ve crossed the threshold now and says he doesn’t know what’s going to happen. He could see the entire timeline at once up until this moment, but in an instant, something changed.

This change wasn’t caused by Loki and Sylvie, who were sitting in front of him. The ultimate tear in the multiverse wasn’t spurred by Sylvie killing He Who Remains, either, because he sensed this change beforehand. So is it possible that Wanda Maximoff transforming into the all-powerful Scarlet Witch in the “WandaVision” finale was the event that reopened the multiverse?

Wanda definitely could have reopened the multiverse

In “Loki,” we learned that nexus beings are incredibly powerful figures within a certain reality who anchor the universe they’re in and can alter timelines simply by existing. No nexus beings can exist in the same multiverse, and He Who Remains has been killing them off in hopes of preserving the Sacred Timeline. In the MCU, nexus events can spring out of any era, so if there were no nexus beings in the main timeline up until this point, Wanda may have become its first.

The post-credits scene supports this theory, as Wanda hears her supposedly dead sons crying out for help, and will presumably have a major impact on the spiraling multiverse in her attempts to get back to them. There’s also a fake “WandaVision” commercial advertising a Nexus pill, which will “ground you to your reality” or “the reality of your choice.”

Nexus beings hadn’t been properly introduced in the MCU when “WandaVision” aired, but this fake commercial could certainly have been a sly bit of foreshadowing.
