The 10 Main Prequels That MCU Should Make Post Black Widow

It will also introduce the all-new concept of prequels in the MCU. Reports also suggest that it is set in the time between Captain America: Civil War and Natasha Romanoff’s very controversial death in Avengers: Endgame.

And there are movies like Captain Marvel and Captain America: The First Avenger, set before the main timeline of the MCU. But they are not prequels since they introduced the lead characters to audiences for the first time. Black Widow, on the other hand, will be exploring the life of the character after it has been introduced.

But since they both introduced us to their lead characters for the first time, they weren’t true prequels like Black Widow will be. This opens up a whole host of new avenues for the MCU. Here are 10 prequels the MCU should make after Black Widow:

Captain America Returns the Infinity Stones to The Past

Captain Returning Infinity Stons

Captain America received a perfect ending to his character in Avengers: Endgame. But the storyline also broke many hearts worldwide. Cap then goes back in time and returns all the Infinity Stones along with the Mjolnir back to their original locations. He then crosses the multiverse and returns to his original time stream. Following this, Cap marries Peggy Carter, grows old, and passes on his shield to Sam Wilson.

All of us missed these scenes and just ended up seeing old Steve Rogers sitting on a bench. We were not shown that Cap went to Asgard, Morag, and then came back to the Battle of New York. We also missed one of the most important scenes where he confronted Red Skull while returning the Soul Stone to Vormir.

All of these could make an amazing prequel to the film.

Thanos Raising Gamora and Nebula

Fans got a taste of a really good and potentially exciting sequel in Endgame during the Nebula flashback. In the scene, we could see Nebula killing aliens with Gamora’s unwanted help. This flashback took place when the Avengers returned back to 2014.

And since we already know about the extremely interesting scenes between Gamora and Nebula in Guardians of the Galaxy, imagine how the prequel would be!

Odin’s Past

The MCU is entering a crazier territory, which is not only more experimental but also exciting. While doing so, an exploration into Odin’s past would also make for a great story. This is also because Odin has always been honest about the fact that he has made mistakes in the past. He is also a character that has fought many great wars.

A prequel would give a glimpse into the thousands of years of Odin’s history, which is amongst the most famous ones in the MCU.

The Young Hank Pym and Janet Van Dyne as Ant-Man and The Wasp of the 1980s:

In the solo movies of Ant-Man, there have been a few flashbacks showing Hank Pym and Janet Van Dyne as the original Ant-Man and the Wasp. But fans think that getting to see these characters in a whole movie would be greater. This is also because the 1980s is a time which the MCU has not yet explored in details.

Moreover, seeing the two balance their superhero careers while raising Hope at the same time would make for an interesting movie.

T’Chaka’s Reign as Black Panther:

Wakanda is not only one of the most popular fictional worlds in the MCU but also has a lot of history. Fans have been following T’Challa as the Black Panther who tries to rectify the mistakes his father made as king. So, going back to the time when T’Chaka was king along with exploring the rich history of Wakanda would be very interesting.

The Origin Story of The Ancient One

ancient one

The Ancient One has many stories which deserve exploration. She can also see the entire timeline of events until her death, as she mentioned in Doctor Strange. Owing to this, the MCU could think of an interesting way to describe the story of her origin.

The prequel could also explore the change of her original Asian heritage to her Celtic background.

The Involvement of Mar-Vell in The Kree-Skrull War

Skrulls

Acting as a prequel to Captain Marvel, a film on this issue would technically a prequel to another prequel. The Kree-Skrull War was supposed to be brought to Earth in Captain Marvel. The movie instead vilified the Skrulls and redeemed them, after which it vilified the Kree.

The film also reveals that the Kree-Skrull War had come to Earth many years before. This would have happened when Mar-Vell had disguised herself as Dr. Wendy Lawson. Mar-Vell then infiltrated S.H.I.E.L.D. to gain access to the Tesseract.

So, a prequel where Mar-Vell learns the truth about the Skrulls and turns on the Kree would be exciting. She could also help to go back to the elements of space opera which Captain Marvel had merely skimmed through.

The Meeting of Rocket and Groot:

Rocket Raccoon and Groot

Fans are also of the hopes to see the story of the origin of Rocket and Groot’s relationship sometime in the future. This comes especially after we will be exploring Rocket’s origin story in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

Rocket and Groot have quite a rich and complex history in Marvel Comics. So, exploring their relationship and their beginning would be quite interesting.

Nick Fury’s Early Days at S.H.I.E.L.D.

We have seen Nick Fury in his early days in Captain Marvel. But we still wish to see the character as he is described in The Winter Soldier. He is a spy full of paranoia, but still doesn’t play by the rules, especially if he thinks his superiors are wrong.

The prequel could be a tense, spy-like thriller, with focus on real-world issues such as privacy, surveillance and drone warfare.

The Secret Avengers

Secret Avengers

We have seen Captain America leaving his political asylum back in Wakanda in the movies Captain America: Civil War and Infinity War. He leaves to conduct missions with Black Widow and the Falcon as The Secret Avengers, thus explaining his absence in Black Panther. This is also when he becomes Nomad.

So, a prequel of these Avengers would be exciting, to say the least, along with certain twists. They could be out there chasing a villain whilst being chased by law enforcement.
