Spider-Man Trilogy Screening from Marvel & Sony

Spider-Man Will Return to MCU Soon, Sooner Than We Were Expecting

Marvel Studios closed out its run of projects in 2021 with December’s Spider-Man: No Way Home, which was arguably the biggest cinematic event since Avengers: Endgame for the MCU. Concluding Tom Holland’s Spider-Man trilogy with Marvel’s first full use of the Multiverse, No Way Home quickly turned into a must-see event that brought fans back to theaters in droves.

Since Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures agreed to bring the web-slinger into play alongside Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, the MCU’s Spider-Man movies have seen a great deal of success both critically and financially. Although Holland made his mark on Captain America: Civil War and both of his last two Avengers movies, the young star used Homecoming and Far From Home to put forth a memorable version of Peter Parker’s story.

With Spider-Man now boasting the fourth complete solo trilogy in the MCU after Iron Man, Thor, and Captain America, fans are taking the opportunity to revisit the first two films from 2017 and 2019 before once again diving into the blockbuster of all blockbusters from 2021.

As fans take in the action, Sony and Marvel are hard at work pushing for No Way Home to be in contention for high-end awards, including at The Oscars. Helping with this is a unique event in Southern California that will provide the opportunity to take in all three web-slinging adventures.

Spider-Man Trilogy Screening from Marvel & Sony

American Cinematheque announced a screening event that will bring all three MCU Spider-Man movies to the big screen for a triple feature at the Aero Theater in Santa Monica, California.

2017’s Spider-Man: Homecoming, 2019’s Spider-Man: Far From Home, and 2021’s Spider-Man: No Way Home will play consecutively starting at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 23. This will also include a pre-recorded message from Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige and Sony executive/producer Amy Pascal, and tickets are on a first-come-first-serve basis.

Marvel and Sony are hosting this screening event to boost No Way Home’s campaign at this year’s Academy Awards and other prestige awards.

Celebrating the MCU’s Full Spidey Trilogy

All three Spider-Man movies from Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures have made an impressive mark on the MCU over the past five years, bringing something unique to the table. Kicking things off with the young hero’s mentorship from Tony Stark and leading up to an intense battle against Multiversal big bads alongside two other Spider-Men, this trio of films is one worthy of fan celebration.

This screening comes just over a month after No Way Home brought some of the MCU’s most thrilling moments in history, which somehow exceeded expectations for many after nearly two years of teases and leaks surrounding the plot. The event likely won’t add to No Way Home’s impressive box office returns but it will provide the opportunity to put the film in the front of viewers minds before the upcoming awards season.

Outside of Tom Holland pushing to host the 2022 Oscars, Marvel and Sony are hoping that this film will follow in Black Panther’s footsteps from 2018 with a potential chance at winning some major awards in the world of cinema. Although the other three MCU films from 2021 are also pushing “for your consideration” campaigns for the Oscars, No Way Home has the added benefit of being the biggest movie of the year amongst fans and critics alike.

Although Homecoming and Far From Home didn’t wind up winning any major awards, the third Spider-Man entry comes as something bigger than just the Spider-Man Trilogy after making such a huge impact on the entertainment world for the past couple of years. Whether this screening boosts the film’s awards chances is a mystery, but Marvel and Sony are putting in every effort to make sure the threequel has the best chances possible for some hardware.
