Bollywood heartthrob Shahid Kapoor stepped out of his comfort zone to play a historical figure. The actor played Maharawal Ratan Singh in Sanjay Leela Bhansali‘s magnum opus ‘Padmaavat.’
Shahid and Varde reunited?
As per the latest reports, producer Ashwin Varde has struck a deal with Lyca Productions and is planning to make “a mammoth period film based on the life story and triumphs of the legendary Chhatrapati Shivaji. Buzz has been going around that the actor will be reuniting with the ‘Kabir Singh‘ producer Ashwin Varde for a period drama. Reportedly, he will be playing the character of the brave Maratha warrior Chhatrapati Shivaji for this project.
Shahid Kapoor to play the lead role
Varde approached Shahid Kapoor to star in the film snd the actor loved the idea. If he confirms the project, this will be his second-period film after ‘Padmaavat.’ But unlike the Sanjay Leela Bhansali movie, he will play the central role in this one. Shahid and Ashwin have worked before on the commercially successful ‘Kabir Singh‘, and they are now planning to collaborate again.
Other attempts to capture the story of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj
Various attempts have been made to make a movie on this heroic historical figure’s life story for a long time, but none of them have gone on floors yet. Actor Riteish Deshmukh has also decided to make a multi-lingual film on Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, which would star him in the lead role. There were some rumors about Ali Abbas Zafar doing a movie on this warrior with megastar Salman Khan, but there is no confirmation.
