What To Watch Before And After Black Widow?

Is Scarlett Johansson leaving MCU? There may be a possibility.

Since her debut years ago in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Black Widow finally has a standalone film that is gearing up for release. The film starring actor Scarlett Johansson as Natasha Romanoff is set to be released on July 9 both in theatres and on OTT streaming platforms.

For over a decade, Scarlett Johansson has been associated with MCU. Her much-awaited and highly anticipated Black Widow film was first announced at the 2019 San Diego Comic-Con. However, the COVID-19 pandemic and following lockdowns have slowed down the production and release of the film.

Scarlett Johansson Leaving MCU?

According to reports from Variety, the Black Widow actor recently addressed the question as to whether Black Widow will be her final appearance in MCU. This raised the question: Is Scarlett Johansson leaving MCU?

Johansson said that she feels like her work as Black Widow makes her proud, happy, and content. Her achievements in the Marvel universe have made her delighted.

“I never feel like my work is done. I still think of new ways I could try lines from movies I shot 10 years ago. I really am happy with the work I accomplished in my last decade-plus at Marvel. I feel like I’m going out on a high note with a movie I’m incredibly proud of,” the actor said when it comes to the release of Black Widow.

However, Johansson mentioned that her work with Natasha Romanoff is now “complete”. The actor said, “I feel like my work with Natasha is complete if that is such a thing. I’ve explored many facets of her person, and feel that her choice to sacrifice her life for her best friends was one that she made actively and with resolve.”

While this was not a clear-cut answer, it does leave questions for the Black Widow fans. Director Cate Shorland has previously mentioned that a Black Widow sequel is a possibility. But will our dear Johansson return as Natasha Romanoff? We certainly hope so.
