Saif Ali Khan Talks About The Significance Of Paternity Leave

Bollywood stars Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan are all set to be parents again. Kareena will soon be delivering the couple’s second child after their toddler Taimur Ali Khan. Since Saif has two children (Sara Ali Khan and Ibrahim Ali Khan) with his former wife Amrita Singh, this will be his fourth child. Saif has always been a supporter of the paternity leave, and will once again take one to spend time with his newborn.

Saif’s opinion on paternity leave

In one of his recent interviews, Saif talked about the significance of paternity leave. The actor has been taking a paternity leave ever since his first child, Sara, was born. He takes a paternity leave to watch his children grow up and be present through different stages of their life. He doesn’t wish to miss out out out on this experience.

The Idea of Privilege

However, he agreed that one has to be in a privileged place to be able to take a break from work. Instead of living a 9-5 routine, he wishes to spend that time with family. But he acknowledges that everyone doesn’t have this liberty. Saif is a family man and makes sure to prioritize his loved ones. He constantly expresses love and gratitude for being blessed with a wonderful family.

Normalizing Paternity Leave

Indian cricket skipper Virat Kohli, who welcomed his daughter last month, also took paternity leave. Talking about his decision, he said “I wanted to be back home in time to be with my wife (Anushka Sharma) for the birth of my first child. It is a very, very special and very, very beautiful moment that I want to experience. That was the reason behind my decision”. Popular celebrities like Virat and Saif taking paternity leave has significantly helped in normalizing the same in society.
