About Sabikui Bisco
Sabikui Bisco is set in a post-apocalyptic Japan which has been ravaged by an arid wind. Rust is all that remains. The cause of this desolate state is supposed to be Mushroom pores.
Bisco Akaboshi, known as the “Man-Eating Mushroom,” is a wanted criminal archer whose arrows cause mushrooms to grow wherever they land. The anime follows his adventures with Milo and Akutagawa the crab as they search for the legendary mushroom Sabikui which can destroy all forms of rust.

Recap of Sabikui Bisco Episode 4
Sabikui Bisco Episode 4 saw Milo and Bisco walking towards Akita, looking for Rust-Eater. Milo finds a sunlight algae and Bisco smacks him for wasting time. Milo falls unconscious in the heat. Bisco brings reptile-looking creatures for them to eat.
Then Bisco explains a plan to get to Akita through the Bone Char Mine. On the way they find Akutagawa, an Iron Gazami Crab who is immune to the venomous animals in the mine. Akutagawa does not like Milo upon first meeting him and it doesn’t like doctors either.
Milo tries to climb him but Akutagawa keeps on swinging him off its shell. So Milo has to walk while Bisco rides the crab. No matter how hard he tries, he can not ride Akutagawa and is afraid that Akutagawa hates him.
He resumes his training the next day but can not bring the magnificent crab’s reins under control. A stranger offers help but she placates Akutagawa either. Bisco has to shoot an arrow to make the crab stop running madly.
Milo, Bisco and Akutagawa halt at the Tenbu Shrine for the night where they meet the stranger again. The stranger’s face is contorted and her face is covered with sweat. Milo, being a doctor, immediately pulls out the Swelling Silkworm from her mouth.
It turns out she was in Imihama’s governor’s special force whose soldiers were fetched eggs of this insect to not stop them from running away. The girl sells them some food and there is humorous dialogue between the three of them with Milos finding it hard to tolerate her antics.
The temple turns into an actual animal weapon after the girl throws away a can of fuel she does not need. In the moment of need, Milo finally learns how to ride Akutagawa and uses it to kill the temple-animal.
In the morning, they find that the girl is gone with all their money. They continue to ride until they have run out of food. They reach the ruins of some desolate city where a couple of children point their guns when Bisco tries to snatch a farmer’s watermelon. Overall, the episode was filled with humour and some timely action to balance the story.
Preview and spoilers for Sabikui Bisco Episode 5
Bisco Episode 5 is titled “The Kids’ Fortress“. The preview shows the same two masked children holding guns. There is a scene of crows sitting on a dead man. There might be something sinister to come in this episode, and there might be the entry of new characters.
