Ryan Reynolds and Samuel L. Jackson are reuniting for a new animated comedy series called Futha Mucka in Quibi. The two actors signed up for the 2017 action-comedy The Hitman’s Bodyguard, which saw them as a classic buddy-cop duo.

In The Hitman’s Bodyguard, Reynolds plays the role of top bodyguard Michael, who protects Jackson’s Darius Kincaid, a hitman. The film did not receive rave reviews from critics but was a box office success. Jackson and Reynolds have decided to reprise their roles in The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard, initially scheduled for release in August 2020. However, it is delayed to 2021 due to the coronavirus epidemic.

Deadline reports Reynolds and Jackson are executive producing and starring in Futha Mukka, a Quibi’s new show. The animated comedy series looks at Jackson Ryan’s primary caregiver role. Quibi has provided an interesting synopsis for the series: Ryan loves Sam. When a minor accident causes Sam to be Ryan’s primary caregiver, things get weird.

Futha Mucka, a yes to Jackson’s famous Expletive, is produced and executive produced by Jim and Brian Kehoe along with Jackson and Reynolds. The series is produced with Anonymous Content and Reynolds’ Maximum Effort, with Emmy Award-winning Titmouse Animation Studio.

Fans of The Hitman’s Bodyguard are looking forward to the reunion of Reynolds and Jackson for the comedy series, especially since the film’s sequel has been delayed. Given Reynolds and Jackson’s relationship in the movie, it’s interesting how the entire series will revolve around the two.

The series seems to be a parody of the actors’ real life. The premise that Jackson is the primary caregiver of Reynolds means that viewers are in for the wild show and perhaps a very wild show. While the series is a staple on the struggling streaming service Quibi, this new series can bring some success. There is no word yet on when Futha Mucka will hit on Quibi though, but the undeniable chemistry that the two stars already have is likely to draw viewers.
