How many Galarmons did Go caught off-screen? If Ash had been alone, he’d caught a rookidee. His current team is fine anyway, and reserves are coming. This is the second time Ash had a chance to catch a dreepy for his team, but guess we have to keep waiting to see if he adds to his team.

About the Anime

The anime series’ eighth installment is Pokémon Journeys: The Series. It includes all regions from the main series games, including Pokémon Sword and Shield from Generation VIII. To avoid confusion, this series has the same Japanese name as the original series, which debuted in 1997 and is officially designated with “2019,” the year this series debuted. In addition, a new art style is used for the fourth series in a row.

The two characters, Ash Ketchum and Goh, and their partners Pikachu and Cinderace, are the core of this new series. It also depicts Chloe, a little girl with an Eevee, and her father, Professor Cerise, who manages a Vermilion City laboratory.

It includes all of the territories from Kanto to Galar that have appeared in the Pokémon games. In addition, each region’s Pokémon also appear.

Pokemon Journeys Episode 101

Recap of Pokemon 2019 Episode 100

After their battle with Marnie, Ash and Goh slept the night in the Wyndon Pokémon Center. When Pikachu wakes up the next morning, he notices Goh’s bed is empty. He also sent a message saying he’d meet him at the Motostoke Riverbank.

Before leaving, I failed to keep him awake. Ash spots two toddlers before he can even leave the Pokémon Centers. claiming Leon gets involved in a brawl at Wyndon Stadium. Not wanting to insult Leon’s match, Ash dashes to the stadium. Only to learn that Leon’s opponent was none other than Flint of the Sinnoh Elite Four, whom he had already met.

This episode was quite an important one: not only did it debut a brand new opening full of new prospects, but it also involved Ash getting a chance to get some training together with Leon, with both of them having a chance to know each other better than they have so far while Goh ends up spending some time alongside Sonia.

With the Galar Champion being built up as Ash’s ultimate opponent of this series, how did the episode do? On the whole, it was a solid way to bring forward the two’s relationship.

Commonality is well on display in the scenes Leon and Ash share: aside from an amusing highlight of Leon’s legendary lack of sense of direction, the episode doesn’t waste much time to show us the way Leon trains, a mixture of actually training and pulling out thrill-seeking stunts like flying at full speed around trees, riding over a waterfall and then skydiving out of nowhere by recalling Charizard and then sending out Dragapult after freefall, all something Ash enjoys as well and feels a kinship with before they end up in the middle of some Wooloo.

This showcase of his ‘training’ right after a big match works well enough for its purpose, as it straddles the line between actually doing actions that would improve his Pokémon’s strength while also relaxing and enjoying things, with his idea that so long as he has fun battling, training and playing with Pokémon are all the same for him making him come off as someone who has done all three enough times to impart that wisdom.

It’s also appreciating how in spite of asking if it’s training, Ash ends up understanding his views immediately, which helps conveying how similar the two are to each other.

The minor conflict of the episode also helps highlighting it, as upon seeing the Corviknight attacking the local Dreepy and Wooloo both Ash and Leon end up trying to solve the problem, with Leon keeping them busy with ease and calm approach without engaging in direct combat while Ash attempts to check what made the Corviknight hostile in the first place, with their efforts eventually complementing each other as Ash tries to rescue a falling, injured Rookidee with his now trademark heroic reckless jumping, with Leon bringing him to safety and the crisis being resolved with Leon healing the chick. It’s a small bit that helps underscoring how likeminded they are, especially with Leon admitting he would’ve done the same thing Ash did. This really helps making clear why Leon has taken such a shine to Ash, and it creates some interesting prospects for how their future match will be like.
