One Punch Man director returns to Madhouse with ‘Sonny Boy’, a new original anime

One Punch Man was once an anime which was incredibly popular. It was the one responsible for catapulting Madhouse Studio to the top of the scene.

However, in recent years we have seen a certain recess from the studio, in addition to a second season of “One Punch Man” that failed to emulate what was seen in the first. However, the anime “Sonny Boy”, which will premiere in 2021, could now regain that essence of the studio’s phenomenon.

Thus, “Sonny Boy”, the aforementioned anime, was announced yesterday as the return of Shingo Natsume, who directed the first season of “One Punch Man”, to the Madhouse studio. Natsume was the one who executed it like a charm. In the following trailer you will catch the first glimpse of this project:

Thus, it has been confirmed that the anime of “Sonny Boy” will have Mr. Natsume not only director, but also the main person in charge of the story. On the other hand, the character design will fall on Norifumi Kugai (ACCA: 13-Territory Inspection Dept) , who will rely on the original designs of the mangaka Hisashi Euguchi (Perfect Blue).

Completing the main team we have Mari Fujino, Ken Hashimoto, Akane Fushihara, Kashiko Kimura and Shouji Hata, who will respectively fill the roles of art director, color manager, director of photography and composition, editing and finally sound.

Ultimately, we will leave you below with the synopsis of the story of “Sonny Boy”. The story combines aspects of survival and science fiction:

“The story centers on 36 boys and girls. During August 16, in what appears to be an endless summer vacation, student Nagara, mysterious exchange student Nozomi, and classmates like Mizuko and Asakaze are seen suddenly transferred from their quiet routines to an alternate dimension. In this they must learn to survive thanks to the use of the superpowers that they have awakened within. “
