Nick Fury’s Alternate Avengers: Infinity War Cameo Revealed By Endgame Writer

Stephen McFeely, the co-writer of Avengers: Endgame, has been revealing many details of the movie. Recently, he shared the alternate cameo for Nick Fury’s character in Infinity War.

The former director of S.H.I.E.L.D. was missing in action for almost three years, after which he reappeared at the end of Infinity War, but had a screen time of only a couple of minutes.

Nick Fury’s cameo scene:

Nick Fury, along with Maria Hill, had both appeared towards the end of Infinity War. The two of them were trying to figure out the situation that Thanos’ invasion and his win in the universe had created.

But unfortunately, the two of them were among those who were wiped off the universe from the snap made by the Mad Titan.

But then again, he was fortunate enough to send an SOS message for Captain Marvel before dying.

What is Nick Fury up to now?

With his absence, everyone was raising questions and was curious to find out where Nick Fury had gone and what he was doing.

In the post-credit scene of Spider-Man: Far From Home, it was revealed that Fury is in space and is working on a new project.

This project could potentially be an adaptation of S.W.O.R.D. by MCU.

Regardless, it is still unclear as to how long Fury has been working on the project and there is no confirmation if he had been working on that project before he re-emerged in Infinity War.

New revelations:

In another interview, McFeely also revealed that Fury has another version which shows up in Infinity War.

In the second or third draft of the film, Fury is said to appear in a train station while he receives a page from Captain Marvel.

Although Stephen McFeely did not mention the reason why he, along with his co-writer decided to change the scene or if they would include it in the post-credits of the film. Anyway, this version of Fury’s appearance has been in the early processes of both McFeely and Christopher Markus’ scripts.

Although there wasn’t any specific mention by either of the writers, the scene still somewhat made it to the film, only with a different character altogether.

Instead of Fury, it marked Captain America’s entry into the film.

In this scene, Captain America, along with Black Widow and Falcon arrived just in time to be able to help Vision and Scarlet Witch fight Corvus Glaive and Proxima Midnight, the members of the Black Order.

Moreover, judging by the audience’s reaction, the scene seems like a good idea, be it with Captain America or Nick Fury.

How would that be helpful for fans?

All this being said, if the makers of Infinity War had stuck with the former version of Fury’s cameo, there would also have been quite a major change in the way the scene would have played out.

In this version, it was Captain Marvel paging his long-time friend, instead of the opposite. This would also mean a few things, the most important of which is the fact that the two of them have been in touch with each other throughout the years.

Considering that the filmmakers still have to work on Captain Marvel, they can still change the beeper’s origin. This turn in the narrative would give fans more context about what Fury has been working on in his secret space station and how he was able to assemble it.
