Moon Knight is on its way to becoming one of Marvel Studios’ most anticipated shows coming out on Disney+. The trailer for the upcoming series showed off the off-kilter premise and Oscar Issac’s Steven Grant magically suiting up as Moon Knight, which suggested major changes to the Cowled Avenger and his superpowers.
In addition to changes to his powers, the trailer also positioned Steven Grant, not Marc Spector, as the prime personality with the audience seeing the show through his perspective. However, it could be revealed as a twist for audiences that he is merely one of Marc’s personalities, as he is in the comics.
More information has revealed one addition to Moon Knight’s superpowers that he never had in the comics.
Moon Knight Will Have Prophetic Visions
The Cosmic Circus recently came across an article from Disney Latino giving fans a deeper look at the upcoming Disney+ series, Moon Knight.
One section of the article, translated into English, described the powers that Khonshu will bestow upon Oscar Issac’s Marc Spector, one of which should be familiar to fans in the comics. Similarly to his time on the West Coast Avengers in the comics, Moon Knight’s “strength, resistance and reflexes” will be influenced by the phases of the Moon:
“The influence of the Moon, according to its phases, increases its strength, resistance and reflexes against enemy attacks.”
However, the most interesting detail is the Crescent Crusader having an entirely new power, allowing him “to have prophetic visions” of the future:
One of his outstanding abilities is to have prophetic visions about future events.”
A Real Power or Manipulation by Khonshu?
While Moon Knight’s strength and agility being dependent on the moon’s phases has been long-established in the comics—having “prophetic visions” has not. Although it would thematically fit the character of Moon Knight, having visions of the future that he couldn’t discern were a product of his mind or not .
Another possibility is that this clairvoyance could be the product of someone else.
In the comics, Khonshu is not a benevolent God to Marc Spector, often manipulating him for his own ends. Khonshu routinely attempts to have Spector act against his morals to satisfy his thirst for blood and vengeance. So, Marc having the power to have “prophetic visions” could easily be a lie from the Egyptian God as a means of further controlling him.
But fans will discover how Spector’s new power will work when they see Moon Knight on Disney+ on March 30, 2022.
