The 51-year-old Dallas Buyer’s Club actor, Matthew McConaughey, had long given up on rom-com. The actor was believed to have started his career with rom-coms of Hollywood. But he gained a lot of his fame from the movies he chose to work in later, Interstellar being the highlight. In his basket, the profound actor has most of all the big awards ranging from the Academy Awards to the Oscars.
A History in Rom-Coms
The actor had earlier claimed to leave the genre in many interviews. He had exclusively changed his way of choosing which films he wanted to work in. It’s believed that he had even once declined a $14.5 million bid. He wanted to try different areas of acting, which was the main reason why he had given up on that big offer.
What’s the Stake for McConaughey?
The actor, however, seems to contradict his own statements in the recent news. He is open to doing a sequel of the famous rom-com in Hollywood, namely, How To Lose a Guy in 10 Days. This is contradictory to what he claimed earlier about giving up on rom-coms.
He spoke approvingly of the film, giving it a status of a legendary movie. He says that it was famous among the audience and held a close place in his heart, and that audiences would still like to watch the film.
That is excellent news about the sequel. The 2003 rom-com, directed by Donald Petrie, starred Kate Hudson and McConaughey. The film was based on a cartoon by the same name by Michele Alexander and Jeannie Long. The story has Benjamin, who is challenged by his co-workers to make a woman fall in love with him. On the contrary, Andie has to write an article on how to lose a man in 10 days. The movie was loved worldwide. The news of the sequel brings about great excitement in all McConaughey fans.
