Madoka Magica to get a new anime film
In early January, the official website for the anime Puella Magi Madoka Magica revealed that a new project would be announced with the franchise’s 10th anniversary. Now, a new anime film has been announced.
The new film is titled Gekijōban Mahō Shōjo Madoka Magica: Walpurgis no Kaiten. The film will be an official sequel to the movie Rebellion which was released in Japan in October 2013. With the announcement, the first promotional image has been shared with the slogan of the new film, “Now, let’s continue the story.”
The new film will feature the team from the original series and films, and will include the original creators, director Akiyuki Simbo, screenwriter Gen Urobuchi, original character designer Ume Aoki, animation character designer Junichirō Taniguchi, composer Yuki Kajiura. (Kimetsu no Yaiba, Sword Art Online) and SHAFT animation studio.
The returning cast includes the following members:
- Aoi Yūki as Madoka Kaname
- Chiwa Saito as Homura Akemi
- Eri Kitamura as Sayaka Miki
- Kaori Mizuhashi as Mami Tomoe
- Ai Nonaka as Kyōko Sakura
- Emiri Katō as Kyubey
- Kana Asumi as Nagisa Momoe
Here’s a synopsis of the series:
She has a loving family and best friends, laughs and cries from time to time… Madoka Kaname, an eighth grader of Mitakihara middle school, is one of those who lives such a life. One day, she had a very magical encounter.
She doesn’t know if it happened by chance or by fate yet. This is a fateful encounter that can change her destiny. This is a beginning of the new story of the magical witch girls!
