As we wait for the global release of Black Widow, we have more news for what’s going to be featured in the film. In the latest news, we know that the film will reveal what Loki’s taunt on Black Widow in The Avengers really means.
Originally set to kick-off Phase 4, Natasha Romanoff’s solo film was pushed back due to the COVID-19 pandemic and lockdowns. While the primary mission of the film remains unrevealed, MCU’s Kevin Feige shares some information about what fans should expect.
Black Widow Film Setting
The standalone film is set after the period of Captain America: Civil War. The plot deals with Scarlett Johansson being sent off after her hero met her end in Avengers: Endgame.
This period piece will introduce her Russian family which consists of David Harbour as the Red Guardian and Rachel Weisz as Melina. We will also meet Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova. Together, they will deal with an unfinished business that has yet to be revealed.
Loki And Black Widow In The Avengers
Kevin Feige told On The Red Carpet that the standalone project will reveal what Loki’s comments about Black Widow’s red ledger in The Avengers were really all about. Feige said that Loki’s taunts were from the past that we will get to know.
“When you have a character like Natasha Romanoff, who has been in the MCU for over ten years, almost everything is an Easter egg. Almost every line, every story point, has been referenced before,” Feige said.

Feige mentioned the particular scene in The Avengers where Loki is behind glass and he keeps taunting Natasha. In the scene, Loki lists down a number of Black Widow’s worst missions before she joined the Avengers.
“A lot of things that he taunts her with are things from her past that we didn’t know about, that we learn and see first-hand in this movie,” Feige added. This may serve as a clue into how Romanoff is haunted by her past self. All of this will be revealed in the upcoming Black Widow film.
