Kevin Feige Shoots Down Killmonger’s Return in Black Panther 2

Black Panther sequel was confirmed just after the first film went highly successful and became Oscar winner, turned out into a 2018 blockbuster.

Since then, no news has been in media for its production and casting. Now, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has let a little bit of info trickle out.

Feige Talks about the Black Panther sequel

Speaking with BET.com, Kevin Feige talks about the role of Killmonger in the next Black Panther sequel. He didn’t give any hint over this and told that there is no info to be shared yet.

“The honest answer to that is that is pure rumor and speculation because Coogler is just only in recent weeks sitting down at his keyboard and beginning to outline the movie. It’s early, so nothing is set yet in any way that far,” said Kevin.

Well, it’s good news for the fans to be happy to see Coogler back in the movie again. Back in 2018, Kevin also said, “We have ideas and a pretty solid direction on where we want to head with the second one.”

As we know Marvel is quite good in keeping secrets and give surprises, Marvel must have been planning well for Coogler.

We know the studio gave Coogler quite a bit of liberty when it came to breaking the first movie’s story.

It makes sense that they’d offer the same sense of freedom to have the writer-director return, especially in the wake of Black Panther’s billion-dollar box office haul.

Also this year, Endgame star Danai Gurira had made a statement about returning of Erik Kilmonger in the sequel.

Her comment was not taken seriously as we know the level of secrecy Marvel expects from its cast.

The appearance of Kilmonger is yet to be revealed if he’s making a cameo or something more has yet to be seen.

How Kilmonger will back in the sequel?

It’s unclear where the film will land in the MCU timeline – whether its pre or post-Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame.

Endgame did hint about the possibility of the sequel tackling the conflict between Wakanda and Atlantis, paving the way for the introduction of Namor. But that’s nothing concrete to back this theory up right now.

As of now, Kilmonger is dead in the MCU. So Coogler needs to be creative and write something new to get him alive for Black Panther 2.

From the first movie, we know that Wakanda has one of the best-advanced technology, that may help Kilmonger back to the movie.

At this point, Killmonger is dead in the MCU which means that if Coogler plans to bring him back for Black Panther 2, he needs to be creative in making that a possibility.

Black Panther 2 hasn’t officially been announced yet, but expect Marvel to drop some sort of details – including a possible release date – at D23 later this year.
