Kaiju No. 8 Chapter 39: Who is The Quirky Captain Gen Narumi?
Kaiju No 8 Chapter 39 was released on the 8th of July, 2021. The chapter explored the aftermath of the decision to let Kafka Hibino live because they thought he’ll be good as a weapon against the Kaiju.
Though Kaiju No 8 Chapter 39 didn’t feature our main protagonist Kafka, it took time to explore other characters like Kikoru Shinomiya and Gen Narumi. We got to see the quirky gamer aka the super-powerful 1st Division Captain Gen Narumi who defies all expectations of what a captain should be.

Gen Narumi: The 1st Division Captain
In Kikoru’s first encounter with Gen Narumi, he comes across as lazy, messy, and irresponsible. Kikoru is quite disappointed with Gen because she was looking forward to learning from him to get stronger.
However, the sight of Gen playing games in a messy room makes her lose every ounce of respect she had for him. He’s focused on getting that “platinum rank” in the game he’s playing. He pays almost no heed to either Eiji Hasegawa, the vice-Captain of the first unit and Kikoru.
After Eiji scolds him for not cleaning up though he told him they’re coming at 2pm, Gen calmly retorts with a “philosophical” rhetorical question. He asks if he wasn’t granted the freedom to act on Eiji’s orders or not. His character is marked by acts of sheer stupidity and humorous antics.
Gen Narumi: A Man of Sheer Talent and Strength
Though he didn’t give off the best impression, he definitely made an impression on Kikoru towards the end of the chapter. When the news of a Kaiju attack arrived, he calmly instructed her with a friendly smirk to watch and learn from the VIP seat.
After gearing up in his battle suit, he asks her that he demands only one thing: Overwhelming powers. Things like manners, appearances, and punctuality don’t matter to him much. He says this calmly in the middle of an ongoing battle with the Kaiju, which he defeats easily with the help of his subordinates.
As the captain of the strongest division, his immense strength, battle wit, and wisdom are unmatched.
A character capable of sheer stupidity and tremendous power, Gen Narumi will give us entertainment and hope while rummaging through this bleak dystopian world of Kaiju No 8.

Kaiju No 8 Chapter 40 Release Date
Since every chapter releases after every 2 weeks, we can expect Kaiju No 8 Chapter 40 to release on July 22, 2021.
Hopefully, we’ll get to see more of Gen Narumi in action. It’s equally likely that we might see Kafka in training to prove his “usefulness”. Either way, we’ll love it!
