Is Mieruko-chan Season 2 Confirmed? And Possible Release Date

Mieruko-chan has managed to capture the hearts of many anime fans in the community. Its blend of genre with its main horror premise mixed in with some very memorable comic elements has been undoubtedly well received.

Miko is a really likeable protagonist whose attempts to deal with seeing paranormal entities by pretending not to have kept us on our toes and actively engaged our attention for these last three months.

So it is apt to say that many of us are sad to see it leave our screens as Season 1 of Mieruko-chan has officially reached its end. No more weekly releases to look forward to, of this delightfully comedic horror anime. So naturally, fans of the series have only one question in mind right now.

Has Season 2 of Mieruko-chan received a green light and when could this popular series return to our screens once again?

Has Mieruko-chan Been Renewed For Season 2?

At the time of writing, the creators of Mieruko-chan have not released any official announcement regarding Season 2. But, rest assured as fans can expect the series to most likely return soon for a second installment.

This is because the original manga series that the anime is based on is still ongoing. With Episode 12, the finale of Season 1 adapting up until Volume 4 Chapter 24 of the manga series, there’s definitely more source material to work with.

So far, six volumes in total of the manga have been published in Japan. So, if they decide to work on Season 2, fans don’t have to worry about lack of content as there’s a decent amount of material for another season.

Also, Mieruko-chan’s popularity is another reason to keep up the optimistic tone on the possibility of a Season 2. The anime is currently marked a very decent 7.4 out of 10 on IMDB and 7.6/10 on MyAnimeList.

The original manga itself is also a hit series, as it garnered much attention for having been nominated back in 2019 for the 5th Next Manga Awards in the digital category and it placed 10th out of 50 nominees.

So with this much popularity that the series enjoys, we’re sure the creators won’t bail out on making Season 2 a reality.

The anime was announced in March 2021. It then premiered in October, which shows an extremely quick production cycle for the first season.

However, the problem right now is that while there’s a good amount of source material available to work with, it may not be enough for a full season.

Season 1 adapted four volumes and with six currently published in Japan, at least another two more volumes need to be published before production can begin.

Two volumes have been launched each year for the last three years. So, based on the duration it takes for new volumes to be published, it seems like we won’t have enough source material until late 2023.

As such, fans should prepare themselves to wait for Season 2 to arrive. It’s most likely going to happen but it will take a while.
