He successfully proved that Marvel can branch out from its former phases.

The Split

Marvel Studio was, at one point of time, a part of Marvel Entertainment, under Isaac Perlmutter. But, in 2015, Marvel Studios and Marvel Entertainment went their separate ways. This was at the behest of Disney and Feige. Both wanted Marvel Entertainment to have more creative control of the successful film franchise.

Furthermore, he goes on to say that he had to overrule a Marvel executive’s concerns. The executives were of the opinion that a film like Black Panther should not be made. The email leaks between Marvel and Sony back Iger’s claims.

He says that Feige was someone who supported the film about Wakanda wholeheartedly. But there were some executives in New York who raised a few objections regarding the same. These executives belong to the Marvel Entertainment offices, which is run by Ike Perlmutter.

Objections By Ike Perlmutter And His Executives:

Executives under Isaac Perlmutter pointed to Black characters. They also had concerns regarding films starring Black actors. Subsequently, they also made comments that such films tend to underperform globally. But Iger does not believe in such outdated beliefs and unsupported data.

He wishes to increase more opportunities for African-American filmmakers and artists within Hollywood. Moreover, he says that he wants the industry to have a vast diversity.

The Future Of Marvel After Ike Perlmutter And His Objections:

After everything, Marvel went on to create legendary stuff. Feige, who was almost on the verge of exiting the company, instead climbed the ladder. He also became the president of Marvel Studios. With this, he successfully exercised creative control and helped Marvel Studios reach new heights.
