How Is Disney Preventing Spoilers?

The Sam Raimi-directed Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is the next film to become a part of the impressively grand Marvel Cinematic Universe. With the proceedings about to take an even deeper dive into alternate realities, the scope of the MCU is set to somehow become even larger. Benedict Cumberbatch’s titular hero returns, alongside Benedict Wong’s Sorcerer Supreme Wong and Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch as the trio takes on one of their biggest threats yet.

The first two trailers have completely blown away fans, with excitement, theorizing, and general conversation remaining at intensified levels. When one’s trailer has the return of Patrick Stewart and a zombified Doctor Strange, it’s no wonder that this happened.

The sequel is now just over two months away, yet it still feels like a lifetime. Ahead of its May premiere, the date and time of the project’s LA red carpet premiere event have been revealed.

The multiverse of Red Carpet Madness

The official LA red carpet premiere date for Marvel Studios’ upcoming film Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness will be on Monday, May 2, from 6:30pm until 10:30pm PST. This premiere will be the same week as the Multiverse of Madness’ worldwide release (May 6), which isn’t typical for many Marvel Studios blockbusters (the red carpet events for both Shang-Chi and Eternals occurred two-and-a-half weeks before their theatrical debuts).

Dr. Strange in the Multiverse of Madness

This is a likely attempt from Disney and Marvel Studios to prevent spoilers from leaking to fans in the days leading up to its release given the sequel’s reported spoilery, Multiverse-inspired cameos. Marvel Studios engaged in a similar tactic for the Los Angeles premieres of Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame, and, most recently, Spider-Man: No Way Home, three movies that are packed with characters and moments that could be considered spoilers.

However, Marvel Studios has already kind of dropped the ball on preventing secrets from leaking.

Those attending Doctor Strange 2’s red carpet premiere may be able to spot the following stars: Benedict Cumberbatch, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Elizabeth Olsen, Benedict Wong, Xochitl Gomez, Michael Stuhlbarg, Rachel McAdams, and Sam Raimi.

The event, as one may assume, is invite-only.

Doctor Strange Gets Fancy

Obviously, this red carpet event is not something one simply buys admission to, but fans can still gather around the area and potentially get to greet talent as they enter the venue—a sight seen at most red carpet premieres.

In a similar vein to Spider-Man: No Way Home before it was released, there have been consistent leaks and rumors about the next MCU outing. It seems that with all of the many new Marvel Studios projects going on at once, it’s become harder and harder for the company to keep it without anyone else taking a peak first.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness hits theaters on May 6.
