Munna Bhai‘s Vidhu Vinod Chopra has spoken about his upcoming films. And the reason why the filmmaker hasn’t tapped into the Munna Bhai franchise is that he doesn’t have a good script right now.
The dynamic pairing
Sanjay Dutt and Arshad Warsi’s pairing is a classic one in Bollywood. While Arshad played the side-kick Circuit, Sanjay Dutt took on the lead role. Their banter and brotherhood were very well reflected in the film. Thus making their pair in Munna Bhai movies an iconic one.
Vidhu Vinod Chopra said that though various people suggested he make a third installation for this much-loved franchise. But the reason he has held back is that they don’t have a good enough script for the film. Considering Munna Bhai was a huge commercial success, he wants to do justice to the film’s legacy.
Arshad Warsi’s comments
In a recent interview, Arshad Warsi commented on the future possibilities associated with the film. He stated that director Rajkumar Hirani is busy with other projects. He jokingly urged the journalists to go to the filmmaker’s house and convince him to work towards the project.
While Warsi didn’t seem very hopeful, Vidhu denied these claims. He stated that it’s all in Arshad’s head and that the movie would be made once they come up with a good script.
At the press event for his film Shikara, Vidhu expressed that he wants to make a third part for the franchise. Munna Bhai is a film that is very close to his heart and he plans on working towards the same.
