About Fire Force:

Fire Force is a shōnen manga series written and illustrated by Atsushi Ōkubo. It is published by Kodansha and has been serializing in the Weekly Shōnen Magazine since September 2015. Also, there’s an anime adaptation for Fire Force too. Along with that, Fire Force was one of the nominees for the 45th Annual Kodansha Awards.

Shinra Kusakabe, a boy with unique powers thus gaining the nickname “Devil’s Footprints”, joins Special Fire Force Company 8. Here, he meets other flame users determined to end the Infernal attacks while investigating Companies 1 through 7 for possible corruption in their ranks.

As a part of the Fire Force, Shinra slowly begins to uncover the truth behind the mysterious fire that killed his family twelve years ago.

A Brief Recap of Fire Force Chapter 298:

The chapter begins with Shinrabanshoman displaying the majestic life and the hope that comes with it. However, the Despair Saint discards the vivid world that Shinrabanshoman paints in front of her. Because she is the only one who has listened to the collective unconscious of humanity and it screams despair.

Furthermore, she proclaims Shinrabanshoman as a God and says that he’s too selfish and blind towards truth. In a way, it holds true as he’s the one who’s irresponsibly creating a paradise and hurting Haumea. As the fog of doubts sways away, he sees what Haumea has been seeing all along.

After coming to an understanding of what and how despair feels like, the Despair Saint speaks while weeping. She goes on to say that only ‘strong’ people can escape despair but what about the weak ones? Moreover, the weak can not even acknowledge despair at times so how will they be able to fight it?

And, lastly, she simply asks Shinrabanshomon whether he won’t give the weak the salvation they desire? To that, the hero stands in a state of utter confusion and determination at the same time. In the end, he just disavows the claim of ‘being a God’ that Haumea had put before.

What Can Happen In Fire Force Chapter 299?

Looking at how Shinrabanshoman reacts to Haumea’s despair in the end, it seems like he has a plan. In my opinion, he might have come to a conclusion where he can reason out with despair.

And, if all things go well, the black flames covering the Earth will go away. But, what if it doesn’t and he decides to join Haumea on her pilgrimage to free the weak? Well, we will only get those answers in Fire Force Chapter 299.
