Record of Ragnarok focuses on ancient mythology showing a war between the human civilisation and the Gods. The manga received recognition due to its brilliant storytelling and diverse complex characters. As of March 2021, the manga had sold over six million copies in circulation.

Based on a manga series of the same name written by Shinya Umemura and Takumi Fukui and illustrated by Ajichika, Record of Ragnarok began its publication on November 25, 2017. As of March 18, 2021, ten volumes have been released.

The plot of the series follows the union of various deities assembling to decide the fate of humanity. After 7 million years, they conclude that humans are beyond redemption and must go extinct. However, the valkyrie Brunhild proposes to give the human race one last chance and hence the battle of Ragnarok was decided to test the worth of the humans.

To make the battle fair, each human is given a Valkyrie which transforms into a powerful weapon. The humans engaged in the battle include Jack the Ripper, Buddha, Lu Bu, Nikola Tesla, and also Adam. The Gods consist of Beezlebub, Heracles, Shiva, Thor, Zeus, to name a few.

The Netflix series is produced by Warner Bros Japan and animated by Graphinica. The trailer of the anime was released by the creators which confirmed the show’s status. However, the trailer did not give any exact release date, simply that it would come out in June.
