Elizabeth Olsen Supports Scarlett Johansson In Black Widow Lawsuit

Elizabeth Olsen comes to the forefront to speak up about the headline-making Black Widow lawsuit filed by Scarlett Johansson against Disney. While no other Marvel stars have actually spoken or opened about it, actor Olsen said that Johansson is very “tough” for carrying this out. This could be taken as the stand of Elizabeth Olsen in Black Widow lawsuit.

In a joint interview with Jason Sudeikis for Vanity Fair, Olsen opened up about her Marvel co-star who has been battling Disney. Olsen also discussed the future of theatres and how streaming has changed today’s scenario a lot.

Olsen has starred as Scarlet Witch in MCU projects including three of the Avengers movies, Captain America: Civil War, and the first Marvel Disney show WandaVision. The actor opened up to Vanity Fair and said that she was “worried” when it comes to the future of theatre and how they will survive with the rising popularity of streaming.

Scarlett Johansson made headlines as her legal team announced that the actor has filed a lawsuit against the parent company. Johansson’s legal team alleged that Disney’s move to release the Natasha Romanoff standalone movie largely impacted how the film did in theatres.

Alleging that this simultaneous release violated the contract signed between the two parties, Johansson has filed the case. It was reported that Johansson’s salary was also largely based on box office performances.

Speaking about the lawsuit, Elizabeth Olsen said that she admired Johansson’s courage. She told Vanity Fair: “When it comes to actors and their earnings, I mean, that’s just, that’s just all contracts. So it’s either in the contract or it’s not.”

Olsen also said that Johansson is “so tough”. “I think she’s so tough and literally when I read that I was like, ‘good for you Scarlett,” the Scarlet Witch actor added in the interview.

This comment also made Elizabeth Olsen the first Marvel actor who chose to speak up against Disney when it comes to the Black Widow lawsuit. Other co-stars and actors have no yet commented on the case till today.
