Edens Zero: Hiro Mashima’s Fairy Tail Successor Gets 25 Episodes!

After nearly three years since Fairy Tail’s last episode, the anime community is finally going to get more of Hiro Mashima’s works. Based on the original manga of the same name, Edens Zero anime has actually already premiered in Japan on 11th April, 2021. And it’s been listed for 25 episodes total.

What About Edens Zero’s International Release Date?

International fans may put their worry to rest as the official Twitter account of Edens Zero has confirmed that Netflix will be streaming the series in the fall of this year for international viewers.

Mashima Shared An Illustration To Celebrate Edens Zero’s Official Premier

The creator took to Twitter to post an illustration featuring Shiki, Rebecca and her cat called Happy. Most anime fans, even if they don’t avidly consume Fairy Tail can see the utter resemblance of these characters with Natsu, Lucy and the original Happy from Fairy Tail.

But that may possibly be where the similarities end. Because while Fairy Tail was focussed on magic, supernatural creatures and guilds, Edens Zero seems to instead be a story centered on space adventures, aliens, and technology.

However, we’ll still find some parallel between Mashima’s two works in both their penchant for the theme of the power of friendship and teamwork.

What Is Edens Zero’s Plot About?

A sci-fi series, Edens Zero is set in a fictional spacefaring universe where not only humans live, but also aliens and sentient robots.

It follows the story of a boy named Shiki Granbell who heads out on a voyage aboard the titular starship across different planets to search for a cosmic goddess called ‘Mother’.

Having also lived at Granbell Kingdom, an abandoned amusement park his whole life, his first human contact In hundred years comes in the form of Rebecca and her cat Happy who end up at the Park’s front gates one day.

Shiki befriends the two and when his homeland proves to turn dangerous, he joins Rebecca and Happy on their spaceship and embarks into the endless cosmos.
