Demon Slayer, Monster Strike Making Records
Demon Slayer has been making so much news ever since it’s release. It has been the talk of the town ever since it had such a massive opening in Japan.
Better than Hollywood
Many Hollywood movies that were released during this pandemic performed mediocrely or poorly, while Demon Slayer kept breaking records as usual. One reason might be that Japan has the pandemic under control and has jumped back to normality quite soon.
Demon Slayer: Mugen Train premiered on October 16, and it became the highest opening weekend globally for the 16-18 weekend. It’s been four weeks now, and still, the number one position hasn’t been snatched away from this movie.
Highest Grossing Film
The movie earned 43 million dollars in the opening weekend alone. The film then went on to make the record as the third highest-grossing anime in Japan and also the fifth highest-grossing movie in Japan, breaking the records of Harry Potter and Sorcerer’s stone. These four weeks, Demon Slayer has made 197 million dollars. Thus, surpassing Harry Potter, which was at 195 million dollars.
The sequel saw the previous cast and staff members’ return, which was one of its most significant advantages. Even though the movie is released in Japan, it is not yet released in the rest of the world; Funimation and Aniplex of America will screen the film in theaters in North America in early 2021.
Monster Strike
Monster Strike, which had been set to release in June, had been rescheduled and released on November 6, 2020. The movie didn’t perform as good as Demon Slayer, but it still performed well for a pandemic movie.
Monster Strike opened at number 6 on its opening weekend. This is the third movie in the Monster Strike franchise. It’s too soon to tell how it’s doing on the ticket sales. Also, Masayoshi Ōishi contributed to the film’s theme song “Eiyū no Uta” (Heroes’ Song).
Pretty Cure Miracle Leap: A Wonderful Day with Everyone
This anime film had a March opening date but was rescheduled twice and released finally on October 31, 2020. This movie is the 13th Pretty Cure All Stars movie but the 28th Pretty Cure movie produced by Toei Animation.
The movie ranked on 3rd in its opening weekend and then dropped to fourth on the second weekend. The film earned a cumulative of 2.2 million dollars ever since it’s released.
