Demon Slayer: Inosuke and His Love Interest!

Though some people in the Demon Slayer fandom tend to ship Inosuke with Shinobu, we have to say that is quite a reach. Inosuke considers Shinobu more in the likes of a mother figure, so given the nature of their canon relationship, that would be a weird pairing to ship.

As for a different love interest involving Inosuke and a particular Aoi Kankazi, we give a resounding yes!

Canon vs Fanon?

Though Aoi made only a short appearance when Tanjiro, Zenitsu, and Inosuke were resting after a tough battle, the potential chemistry of a really good pairing was apparent in their interactions!

We saw Inosuke being only focused in fighting and becoming stronger, but Aoi handled his stubbornness really well and made him rest. Surprisingly, he listened to her instructions. This suggests that they would make a good couple, as Aoi would balance well with Inosuke’s wildness.

The playful, refreshing banter from their canon interactions carried over into the fandom shipping world. A lot of fans love their dynamic where although Inosuke can be quite insensitive, Aoi is also quite the force to be reckoned with as she can handle his shenanigans well. She isn’t one to back down from giving him a piece of her mind as well.

Inosuke is also a character who is very prone to danger and taking risks while Aoi is a medic and is way more level headed. His character arc shows a lack of nurture and care, so Aoi worrying over and caring for him is something that might feel novel to him.

The fandom usually depicts Inosuke as loving Aoi’s concern deep down and enjoying that someone genuinely does care and worry about him besides Tanjiro and Zenitsu.

All about their first meeting! And is this pairing endgame in the Demon Slayer series?

They first met each other at the Butterfly Mansion. He initially struggles to defeat Aoi in all the tasks due to lack of a strong will. It is only later that he is able to adapt and beat her.

After the battle against Upper Moon 6, he’s taken to the Butterfly Mansion. It is here that we see Aoi getting visibly sad about Inosuke’s terrible condition as his body is poisoned and she thinks it’s too late to stop the bleeding.

But it doesn’t take long before the two begin bantering again after Inosuke’s condition improves. At the Butterfly Mansion, there’s another awfully cute scene between them. Inosuke sneaks out of Tanjiro’s room to head to the kitchen to get some food and he tries to steal it behind Aoi’s back, but she notices him.

And what does she do? She offers Inosuke a tray of food that is made only for him and tells him that he can eat as much as he desires from the tray. The hints are all there! This ship has definitely sailed.

After this gesture, Inosuke visibly begins seeing her in a good light. Eventually, the two of them end up together and have a great-grandson named Aoba Hashibira. This is confirmed in the Volume 23 extras.
