Crayon Shin-Chan movie delayed due to new state of emergency

Nueva pelicula de Crayon Shin Chan se retrasa por nuevo estado de emergencia 1

Crayon Shin-Chan’s new film has been delayed in Japan due to a third state of emergency arising from the COVID-19 pandemic.

Although it was going to hit theaters on April 23, Crayon Shin-chan’s official website: Mystery Meki! Hana no Tenkasu Gakuen (Crayon Shin-chan the Movie – Shrouded in Mystery! The Flowers of Tenkazu Academy) announced that its premiere will be postponed indefinitely, but that the new date will be announced sometime later.

Crayon Shin-chan: Gekitotsu! Rakugaki Kingdom to Hobo Yonin no Yuusha (Crayon Shin-chan: Crash! Rakuga Kingdom and Almost Four Heroes), the previous film in the series, was released in September last year, so the wait won’t be that long for the fans. After all, this film was also delayed due to the current pandemic.

The delay responds to a request from the Tokyo Metropolitan Area government to declare a third state of emergency after COVID-19 cases have been on the rise again. The situation is especially delicate these days, as “Golden Week” is about to be celebrated, a celebration that could cause a new number of cases.

The state of emergency is proposed to last from April 25 to May 9 or 11, a proposal that has been supported by the Osaka, Kyoto and Hyogo prefectures.

Here’s what the movie is about:

When the five visit a private academy Kazama is attacked. He is left with reduced intelligence and strange bite marks.

The movie is directed by Wataru Takahashi, who has worked on Crayon Shin-chan before. Yumiko Kobayashi, who has played roles like Mild in Re: Zero and Black Star in Soul Eater, will be reprising her role as Shin-chan. Kobayashi also lent her voice to the original Shin-chan anime.
