Bleach: Sosuke Aizen’s Zanpakuto Kyoka Suigetsu And Its Abilities Explained!
Sosuke Aizen, the long-standing antagonist of the Bleach anime and manga, has been one of the most fearful and manipulative people in the history of anime. His brilliant intellect, strategic skills, and charming personality make him a formidable force to deal with. Even in his days during the Gotei 13, he was able to escape suspicion and detection by his fellow subordinates.
He is also very adept at making use of his subordinates’ emotions and aspirations to further his end goals. This was glaringly clear in his treatment of Momo Hinamori, his lieutenant, where he even impaled her twice without even an ounce of remorse. He did this with his subordinate, Kaname Tosen, a fellow captain in the Gotei 13.
Without any doubt, Aizen is such an overpowered character, where he can even take on three-four captain-level Shinigami and defeat them with ease. Therefore, many fans of the Bleach series have been wondering what makes him so strong. In such a character analysis, we need to give prime importance to Aizen’s Zanpakutou, Kyoka Suigetsu (Mirror Flower, Water Moon)
His Zanpakuto is one of the few illusion-type Zanpakutous in the world of Soul Society, the other one being his former captain, Shinji Hirako’s. However, he easily outmatched Hirako’s Benihime after correctly deducing its Shikai ability. Let us take a close look at what abilities make Kyoka Suigetsu so powerful.

Kyoka Suigetsu Shikai
To release his Zanpakuto, he utters the command, “Shatter”, which in Japanese, is “Kudakero”. Aizen’s sword is much more terrifying because of its deadly skills of manipulating an opponent’s five senses. This is called Kanzen Saimin.
This ability allows Aizen to even control what his opponent can feel, smell, and interpret someone’s form, mass, shape, etc. The scariest part of this kind of mind control is that even if the opponent is completely aware of the Zanpakuto’s ability, they won’t be able to overcome it.
For the control to be activated, Aizen has to release his Shikai exactly in front of his opponents. After that, his opponents are fighting an uphill battle where all the cards are in Aizen’s hands. Aizen often creates multiple copies of himself, which will fight the opponent for him and when they have a huge opening, Aizen usually attacks from the back and deals a fatal blow.

He did this with the Espada 3, Harribel, and the 10th Squad captain, Toshiro Hitsugaya. He had cleverly held all of Soul Society under the influence of his Kyoka Suigetsu after he made them witness his “powers” by pretending to release it in front of them, which is one of the ideal conditions for Kanzen Saimin.
How To Counteract
The best way for you to fight Aizen on equal terms is to never witness him releasing his zanpakuto. Ichigo did this in his final fight with the cunning ex-captain. There is no cure for this power and it doesn’t wane with the passing of time, as evidenced by the Visoreds still being under his tyranny even after 110 years had passed.

Even after he was imprisoned and sealed in the Mugen, he was able to use his abilities against Yhwach, the Quincy King. But the extent of control was quite diminished.
Kyoka Suigetsu Bankai
Though it is obvious that Aizen must have attained his Bankai, its powers and release have never been shown, unfortunately. With the show coming to an end, maybe we’ll never see it.
