Avengers: Endgame co-director Joe Russo has opened about the future of Hulk during a live Q&A hosted by ComicBook.com
The Hulk is one of the strongest and big characters among the Avengers.
He’s been sharing screens with other Avengers from start.
In Avengers: Endgame, the Hulk combined Bruce Banner’s brains with his considerable brawn as the Smart Hulk. However, none of that makes Mark Ruffalo’s Avenger invincible.
How hulk got injured
Avengers: Endgame followed our heroes as they traveled to the past in an attempt to retrieve the Infinity Stones before Thanos had them destroyed.
Once they completed their mission, Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk opted to be the one to harness their power using a gauntlet which Tony Stark created. It was made so he could bring back everyone who was erased from existence by Thanos.
While Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk was successful and Thanos was later vanquished.
After using the full power of the Infinity Stones and Tony Stark’s Infinity Gauntlet to revive all of Thanos’ victims in Endgame, the Hulk sustained massive injuries to his right arm.
As Endgame confirmed, Thanos’ arm was permanently disfigured after he used the Infinity Gauntlet to wipe out half of all life in the universe in Avengers: Infinity War and the Gauntlet’s energies killed Tony Stark after he used it to defeat Thanos.
Director Confirmed the Injury!
Talking to ComicBook, Joe Russo confirms:
“He’s lost an arm… He lost Natasha. That’s not coming back. He’s damaged himself. I don’t know. It’s interesting. That’s permanent damage, the same way that it was permanent damage with Thanos.”
“It’s irreversible damage. His arm, if you noticed, is a lot skinnier. It’s blackened. So, he loses a lot of strength there.”
Russo continued.“But who knows? There’s a lot of smart people left… Maybe someone helps him repair that. Maybe someone gives him a new arm. I have no idea where that character goes from here.
The nice thing is we didn’t have to pay attention to where it goes after this, we just try to tell a satisfying ending.”
The director still hinted that he could regain his lost strength but kept the plot under wraps.
If the MCU is ever going to make another Avengers movie with a whole new roster, fans would love for the Hulk to make an appearance and be the one to pass the torch.
We are yet unconfirmed about the further steps of Marvel but we can theorize enough to make you feel good. We don’t know if Hulk would reappear in the future or not.
Phase 4 seems to be far currently, but there doesn’t seem to be an immediate place for him. Black Widow will be a prequel before she ever knew Bruce Banner. The Eternals will have all new characters.
Perhaps he could show up in Wakanda for Black Panther 2. And he knows Stephen Strange, so maybe Doctor Strange 2 will find him a new home.
Since the Endgame’s release, fans, with many wondering about the potential arrival of X-Men and Fantastic Four and how they could fit in the same shared universe.
Endgame is currently running in theaters and breaking all records worldwide.
