There’s something that’s special about this scene. In one of the special Endgame Deleted Scenes, it shows an emotional heart-to-heart conversation between a father and his daughter. Moreover, this is just before he returns to reality to say his final goodbyes. He bids an emotional farewell to Pepper Potts, Peter Parker, and the other Avengers.
In regards to this, co-writer Christopher Markus also says something. He speaks about why the scene was cut from the theatrical release of the film. He says, “it was just a very sort of ruminative scene in a time when you really wanted to be on the plot. And as much as… and it also, because of its nature that we’re going through, we couldn’t move.”
He says that the scene had to go. It had its reasons.
The Other Avengers: Endgame Deleted Scenes:
The Russo brothers also speak of another scene. In this, Tony goes to the metaphysical Way Station. This is the same place where Thanos sees a young Gamora after snapping his fingers. And it is here where Tony sees an older version of his own daughter, played by actress Katherine Langford.
The deleted scene with Tony and his daughter mirrors that of Thanos with Gamora. But, this scene shows him as the hero, who just saved millions of humans across the universe, thereby sacrificing himself.
