A lot of fans were happy to see the Marvel Cinematic Universe implement the idea of Time travel in Avengers: Endgame.

One thing Endgame did was create an alternate timeline as a way to explain Steve Rogers time-traveling to his past and living out a normal life.

Avengers: Endgame saw not only the death of Tony Stark but also the retirement of Steve Rogers. It gave Captain America’s story an ending.

Here is the account of the body double below:

Cap as Old Man

After returning all the Infinity Stones to their rightful places in the timeline, Steve returned to the 1940s and ended up marrying Peggy Carter.

When Steve reunites with his friends Bucky Barnes and Sam Wilson in the present, he’s an old man.

Steve lifts the Captain America shield to Sam so that the mantle can live on. Though fans may have wondered who plays old Captain America in this scene, it’s still Evans.

Once the Cap doesn’t return when he’s supposed to, Bucky and Falcon start to get worried. But then they see an old man sitting by a lake close-by.

The scene just hinted towards some change has happened.

The old man was actually, Rogers. He had decided to stay behind and live a happy life with Peggy Carter.

After that, he happily gave his iconic shield to Falcon and seemingly inaugurates a new Captain America.

The real face if Cap’s Body double…

It’s with absolutely no malice that we can say Patrick Gorman wasn’t really on anybody’s radar leading up to Avengers: Endgame.

That’s probably the reason why he was allowed to tease his role on Instagram all the way back in January.

The selfie of the now instantly-recognizable getup was accompanied by the following caption: “Who am I? Haha! You’ll never guess and I won’t tell! Mysteries are fun!!!#actor #actorslife #followyourheart #hollywoodactor #actors”

The old actor is shown wearing a long button down and brownish jacket that Steve wears after he came back to the present.

Gorman looks every bit as purposeful as Captain America in this shot, even with those dots on his face.

The dots on his face hints the use of visual effects to superimpose Evans’ face in post-production.

So it was Gorman who brought the superhero to life in the movie.

Captain America

We all know how much Marvel keeps things under the wraps and the fact that the future of Chris Evans and Captain America in the MCU is unpredictable.

It’s sort of crazy to think that this potential spoiler was allowed up on the web. But even now, Gorman has less than 1000 followers on his page, so perhaps the House of Mouse didn’t see the post as a threat. In fact, they may not have even seen it at all.

Evans has been vocal in the past about his reluctance to sign on to his Marvel contract, and Evans said in 2014 Avengers 4 would be his last MCU movie.
