Ant-Man 3 in the Marvel Cinematic Universe features the return of Paul Rudd as Scott Lang, Evangeline Lilly as Hope van Dyne, Michael Douglas as Hank Pym, and Michelle Pfeiffer as Janet Van Dyne. Newton is not the only new addition to the cast, as Jonathan Majors will also make his appearance as ‘Kang The Conqueror’ after his debut in the recent Disney+ series, Loki.
Newton’s new role as Scott Lang’s daughter won’t be the first iteration of Cassie that fans have seen in the MCU. Young Cassie Lang, played by Abby Ryder Fortsonplayedad a fairly prominent role in the first Ant-Man movie and a handful of scenes in Ant-Man 2.
However, following the events of Thanos‘s snap in Avengers: Infinity War, the next time fans saw Cassie was in an emotional scene in Avengers: Endgame. After being trapped in the quantum realm for five years, Scott Lang returns home to find his now-teenage daughter, played by Emma Fuhrmann. Cassie had presumed that her father had disappeared in the snap, and their reunion was very emotional.
Kathryn Newton Will Have Bigger Role In Future As Cassie
Now, Newton has posted new photos on Instagram that have fans wondering if Cassie could play an even bigger role in this third installment of Ant-Man. The photos show Newton in workout clothes at the gym, like she’s training for something. Newtown accompanied the post with the caption: “Honestly, why I haven’t been posting.” Check out the photos below

Quantumania began filming earlier this summer, so the timing of these photos could certainly line up with Newton’s appearance in the film. Fans will know by now that there is often a lot of behind-the-scenes training in action sequences in Marvel movies. Stars like Chris Hemsworth and Brie Larson have previously shared details about the intense training regimens they adopted to prepare for their respective MCU movies. So it’s not hard to understand that Newton might have some action scenes in the upcoming Ant-Man 3.
After Ant-Man 3; Cassie Lang Could Be A Member Of Young Avengers
Fans have speculated for a while that Newton’s addition to the MCU could be related to the rumored focus on the Young Avengers, who could be prominent in Phase 4 and beyond. With the launch of two new Disney+ series, Ms. Marvel and Hawkeye, later this year, it looks like Marvel may be slowly building its Young Avengers lineup. However, fans will have to wait a bit longer to see what Cassie Lang will do, as Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is slated for release in early 2023.
