Anime x Tokyo Olympic Games: Manga Creators Collaborate with the Tokyo Olympics Committee

The 2020 Olympics has been fraught with delays and criticism due to the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. However, Japanese authorities seem quite adamant about going ahead with the games. This conviction is further proven by the extra mile they’ve taken to promote the Tokyo Olympic Games!

The 2021 Olympic games will be an event to remember because of the addition of innovative marketing techniques like adding wildly popular anime characters. They’ll be commencing from July 23, 2021, and we can’t get any more excited than this.

Many weebs and otakus ironically are excited for the games too as their favorite artists like Eiichiro Oda, Hajime Isayama, and Naoko Takeuchi have illustrated. Kadokawa released the most beautiful and amazing visuals and illustrations for the Olympic Games and we’re in love with them!

Let’s begin a minute dissection of these art pieces!

Eiichiro Oda, the creator of One Piece, chose the game of Karate with a man in typical Karate attire. We can’t help screaming in our rooms as the illustration is reminiscent of One Piece and gives off the same vibe.

All of us are aware of the overwhelming popularity of an anime show like Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin. Its mangaka Yoshikazu Yasuhiko created an illustration of a woman surfing amidst the chilly breeze and summer vibes! Now, that evokes the true essence of summer!

Naoko Takeuchi, the creator of the iconic 90s manga Sailor Moon, created a skateboarding illustration where a young girl in funky clothing is skateboarding. The visual is enticing and screams summer! That’s exactly what we need in our sad pathetic life inside our apartments.

Last but not least, Hajime Isayama has illustrated a picture of a figure that resembles Eric Yeager climbing. It highlights the thrilling aspect of sport climbing that leaves us hooked to it!
